EXPRESS ENTRY CANADA

Am I Eligible?

Canada Express Entry is the most popular immigration system offering Canadian permanent residence, introduced by the federal government in January 2015 to replace the old “first come, first served” process.

Applicants who meet eligibility criteria submit an online profile known as an Expression of interest (EOI), under one of 3 federal Canada immigration programs or a participating provincial immigration program, to the Express Entry Pool.

Candidates profile are ranked against each other according to point based system known as comprehensive ranking system CRS. The highest ranked candidates will be considered for an invitation to apply ITA for permanent residence. Those receiving an ITA must quickly submit full application and pay processing fees within a delay of 60-days. The federal government aims to process complete PR applications in only 6 months

To be eligible for FSWP for Canada PR visa, the minimum points requirement is 67 points out of 100. Once the candidate is able to score the 67 points or more, then they can create their express profile and get submitted into the express pool.

In the express pool, profiles are ranked according to their CRS score. The highest-ranked profiles are then issued an ITA to apply for Canada PR Visa. To get an ITA, the candidate must have to clear the CRS score cut-off. In the latest express draw, the minimum CRS score requirement was set at 473 points. This means the profiles in the express pool with 473 points or more were issued the ITA in the latest express draw to apply for Canada PR Visa.

However, note that the CRS score cut-off is not pre-determined. They are subjected to change with each express draw held. That’s why there is no strict number of points written to get the Canada PR Visa. But through the previous express draws held, they can give the candidate an indication of the minimum points required for Canada PR Visa.

Express entry program manages the profiles of the candidates registered under following immigration programs –

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) – Is for qualified tradespersons with recent experience in a listed occupation

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC) – is for people with recent skilled Canadian work experience

Provinces in Canada can also select skilled immigrants from the express entry pool through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNPs) in order to meet the needs of their local labour market.

In this section, we will discuss the minimum requirements to apply for Canada PR Visa under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). The requirements are as follows:

Good news for Canada Immigration Applicants- Express Entry CRS Points are expected to Decrease

Improvements include awarding points for job offers to eligible candidates already in Canada on Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) exempt work permits, and to international students who completed their studies in Canada. In addition, more time will be allocated to candidates to submit an application for permanent residence once an invitation to apply is received.

These improvements to Express Entry support the Global Skills Strategy, contribute to Canada's economic growth, drive innovation leading to new businesses, and assists employers in meeting labour market needs.

Highly skilled immigrants, such as those who come through the Express Entry system, help strengthen Canada’s competitiveness in the global marketplace and are able to quickly contribute to Canada’s economy and society. They help create jobs, spur innovation and provide opportunities that benefit Canada’s middle class.

It is really heartening news for the Canadian Immigration Applicants, as the required CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) is likely to go down in the coming draws of an Express Entry System for Canada Immigration. As per the latest announcement from one of the CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) member and spokesperson, the few initial draws of Express Entry system have seen the higher qualification marks in view of the many applicants among them were in Canada itself, and had the job offer along with LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) already. It subsequently added extra CRS points to their score, so all such applicants were selected mostly, which raised the qualifying marks as well.

The coming draws likely to see reduced CRS point requirement

However, the last few months have seen gradual, but consistent downfall in the qualifying CRS Score for Express Entry System. Moreover, as the previous backlog of applications from the applicant’s already in Canada is over, the CIC also looks to complete their immigration target of various Canadian Immigration Programs. Although, the CRS score requirement during the seventeenth draw was reduced to about 450 points, however, now in last couple of draws it’s hovering around 480 marks, in view of a few provinces didn’t announce their PNP’s.

It’s high time to gear up for the Immigration to Canada

The Canada Immigration applicants have a great opportunity at now to secure their Canadian Visa in view of upcoming favorable conditions for immigrating in Canada.
